Gender and AMR

AMR happens when bacteria, viruses, fungi & parasites no longer respond to the medicines designed to kill them.

Women are at higher risk of AMR due to increased vulnerability to urinary tract infections, pregnancy & childbirth, abortion care, menstruation & post-menopausal changes, and a disproportionate care work burden.
