One September 18-19, 2026, the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) and the One Health Trust, with support from BactiVac and Wellcome Trust, convened global experts for a worshop on the development of the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Toolbox for Vaccine Impact. Participants explored how to better measure the impact of different vaccines on AMR—and generate the evidence needed to inform immunization policies and programs.

The event brought together perspectives across disciplines and settings and was an important step toward understanding the broader role vaccines can play in tackling AMR. OHT’s Dr. Erta Kalanxhi spoke at the workshop and provided important guidance and context along with hosts Dr. Laura Plant and Dr. Raphael Zellweger of IVI, and guest speakers including  Dr. Vanessa Harris of Amsterdam University Medical Center, Dr. Farah Naz Qamar of Aga Khan University, and Dr. Mateusz Hasso-Agopsowicz of the World Health Organization.

The workshop afforded a space for experts to share eye-opening evidence, practical experience, constructive feedback, and novel ideas for turning AMR and vaccine research into actionable tools.
