The GARP Nepal team, in collaboration with the Nepal Public Health Foundation and the One Health Trust, hosted an event on June 20, 2025, in Kathmandu to launch the latest GARP-Nepal policy brief titled “The Value of Vaccines to Mitigate Antimicrobial Resistance.”

The event drew strong participation from Nepal’s Ministry of Health officials and brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including researchers from across One Health disciplines, policymakers, immunization experts, and public health advocates.

The policy brief outlines a comprehensive set of recommendations for leveraging vaccines in the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR). These include promoting sustained policy advocacy, applying health economics to demonstrate the value of specific vaccines, adopting best practices in immunization, and strengthening surveillance systems. The brief also highlights the need to include the livestock sector, prioritize high-risk populations, invest in vaccine research and regulation, and promote public awareness and education.

In addition to sharing key messages from the policy brief, the event served as a platform for stakeholders to reflect on the evidence behind the recommendations and identify actionable strategies to include vaccination in AMR mitigation efforts across Nepal.
