March 27, 2026
The GARP-Kenya technical working group, a collaboration between the Kenya Medical Research Institute and the One Health Trust, hosted a policy brief launch event on March 27, 2026, at the Mövenpick Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya, to present findings from the GARP-Kenya policy brief.
The event convened researchers, policymakers, and health leaders to discuss the potential of vaccines as a frontline strategy in the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Kenya; barriers to vaccine access; the role of national immunization advisory bodies; and the importance of a One Health approach in strengthening responses to infectious diseases. Dr. Ramanan Laxminarayan, Dr. Erta Kalanxhi, and Dr. Oluwatosin Ajayi represented OHT at the event.
The policy brief highlights that vaccines are a cost-effective and underused tool for reducing infections and curbing unnecessary antibiotic use. The meeting demonstrated Kenya’s readiness to turn evidence into action and to integrate vaccination into broader AMR policy efforts.
