One Health Trust’s work in Africa spans several countries and focus areas. Through projects supporting the analysis of antimicrobial surveillance data, OHT has advanced the understanding of the burden of antimicrobial resistance, a critical step toward estimating its health and economic consequences. In collaboration with the World Health Organization, OHT has evaluated policies and strategies to address antimicrobial resistance and, in partnership with Africa Union, has developed treatment guidelines to promote the prudent use of antibiotics. OHT research on the COVID-19 pandemic in the region contributed to better insights into disease transmission and the benefits of mitigation measures.
