A TV news report by TV47 Kenya on the GARP-Kenya policy brief highlighted that widespread antibiotic misuse is increasing the emergence and spread of AMR. Kenya now ranks 28th globally in AMR-related deaths, with an estimated 37,000 deaths linked to AMR in 2019.

Many infections driving antibiotic use, such as pneumonia, typhoid, and rotavirus, are preventable through vaccines. Strengthening immunization can help reduce unnecessary antibiotic use and slow the spread of resistance.

The GARP-Kenya policy brief highlights vaccines as a critical, yet underused, tool in the fight against AMR.
