Synthetic population

OHT researchers developed a computationally efficient agent-based model that simulates disease transmission in a synthetic network. The agents are individuals from the synthetic population. The model is being extended so that the demographic characteristics of those individuals determine their community contact rates and other transmission-relevant behaviors.

This model will be used by OHT researchers to investigate several research questions, such as understanding the effects of behavior-driven change in contact patterns, examining disparities in health outcomes associated with race and income, and simulating the effects of targeted messaging and policy interventions.
