About This Job
The One Health Trust (OHT) seeks a General Manager to oversee the full operational performance of Nimai Valley, a residential research and hospitality campus in the Nandi Hills region of Karnataka, India. The General Manager will lead campus operations, estate management, hospitality services, team leadership, financial oversight, and institutional coordination to ensure the smooth functioning of the campus and a high-quality experience for guests, residents, fellows, and partners.
This role serves as the campus’s senior operational authority, responsible for maintaining the infrastructure, systems, standards, and teams that support Nimai Valley’s programs, residencies, retreats, and institutional convenings. From facilities and hospitality operations to vendor management and guest experience, the General Manager ensures the campus is prepared to deliver on the needs of a dynamic and mission-driven environment.
The position is based at Nimai Valley in Chikkaballapur, Karnataka, India.

Role Overview
The General Manager is responsible for the full operational stewardship of the Nimai Valley campus. The role combines estate management, hospitality operations, facilities oversight, financial management, regulatory compliance, and leadership of a multidisciplinary campus team.
The General Manager ensures that the campus infrastructure, operational systems, staffing, and guest services consistently meet high institutional and hospitality standards while supporting the evolving needs of Nimai Valley’s programs and partnerships.
The role reports to the Executive Director and COO of the One Health Trust and works closely with the Program Manager and institutional leadership.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
- Campus operations & estate management;
- oversee the day-to-day operational management of the Nimai Valley campus;
- maintain campus buildings, grounds, utilities, solar infrastructure, water systems, and estate facilities;
- lead preventive maintenance schedules and coordinate infrastructure upgrades and capital projects;
- develop and implement operational SOPs and conduct periodic operational audits;
- manage vendor contracts, procurement systems, and service providers;
- ensure campus readiness for residencies, retreats, institutional events, and visitors;
- coordinate housekeeping, food and beverage, security, facilities, and event support teams;
- and serve as the first point of escalation for operational issues and guest concerns.
Guest and Resident Experience
- Oversee hospitality operations and maintain high-quality guest and resident experiences;
- ensure smooth arrival, onboarding, accommodation, and departure processes;
- support scholars, fellows, delegates, institutional partners, and retreat participants throughout their stay;
- maintain hospitality and service standards aligned with Nimai Valley’s institutional mission and values;
- and coordinate with the program manager to support events, retreats, and campus programming.
Team Leadership & Administration
- Lead and supervise campus staff across facilities, housekeeping, food and beverage, events, and security functions;
- recruit, onboard, train, and support departmental staff and supervisors;
- conduct performance reviews and support professional development initiatives;
- ensure staffing schedules and operational coverage across campus functions;
- and foster a collaborative, accountable, and mission-driven work culture.
Financial & Operational Management
- Manage the annual campus operations budget and monitor expenditures;
- track operational costs, procurement, vendor payments, and utilities;
- support occupancy planning and operational forecasting;
- identify cost efficiencies while maintaining service and operational quality;
- prepare periodic operational and financial reports for leadership.
Safety, Compliance & Institutional Coordination
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, licenses, labor laws, and safety standards;
- oversee fire safety systems, emergency preparedness, and campus security protocols;
- maintain records related to inspections, permits, and compliance requirements;
- coordinate with local authorities, vendors, and external service providers when necessary;
- and represent Nimai Valley and the One Health Trust during institutional visits, meetings, and operational discussions.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in hospitality management, business administration, facilities management, operations, or related fields;
- minimum seven years of experience in campus operations, estate management, hospitality, institutional administration, or related operational leadership roles;
- experience managing multidisciplinary teams across facilities, hospitality, operations, or institutional environments;
- strong organizational, leadership, and operational management skills;
- experience overseeing budgets, procurement, vendor management, and operational planning;
- familiarity with Indian labor laws, compliance standards, and workplace regulations;
- strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities;
- ability to work independently and manage multiple operational priorities in a dynamic environment;
- and interest in sustainability, institutional hospitality, interdisciplinary collaboration, and mission-driven work environments.
- Preferred qualifications include experience in hospitality campuses, retreat centers, research institutes, universities, NGOs, or sustainability-focused institutions.
