The One Health Trust (OHT), previously called the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy (CDDEP), seeks a committed and creative computer programmer for the development and scientific programming of stochastic models of disease dynamics, vaccinations, and health economic indicators. The position will be based in Bengaluru. The initial contract will last two years, though there is potential for contract renewal.
About This Job
The candidate will be a key part of a cross-disciplinary and dynamic team of core epidemiologists and mathematical modelers at OHT. They will work on translating model descriptions into programmatic simulations and developing statistical models of disease spread that can be used for practical insight and informing policy. An excellent candidate will be passionate about their work, driven to produce the best code, and problem-solve to develop creative solutions to problems as they arise.
Their role will include:
- Development of an agent-based model for disease spread and predicting health indicators
- Integration of household survey data to produce realistic models of disease spread
- Calibration of models to ensure end-to-end functional models
- Conducting sensitivity analyses to evaluate model robustness
- Producing visualizations and informative tables describing simulation results
- Assisting in the preparation of project reports, presentations, and manuscript writing
The programmer will report to Dr. Giridara Gopal Parameswaran (OHT) and will be strongly supported by computational epidemiologists on the team.

About the Project
Vaccination programs are known to provide multidimensional benefits to the community. Understanding both narrow and broad economic benefits of vaccines is important in making an investment case for decision‐makers while advocating for additional resources to introduce, sustain, or scale‐up new vaccines. Though critical for advocating for future vaccination programs, modeling the multifaceted impacts of vaccination remains challenging.
We propose the use of spatial and temporal variations in the introduction of the rotavirus vaccine (RVV), Hib‐containing Pentavalent (Hib) vaccine, and pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) to statistically estimate the impact of vaccine introduction on antimicrobial consumption, one key positive impact of vaccinations. We will use an agent-based model, IndiaSIM, to study the benefits of introducing these vaccines, including a decrease in respiratory and diarrheal disease burden in India and a reduction in antimicrobial use and resistance.
About One Health Trust (OHT)
OHT (previously CDDEP) produces independent, multidisciplinary research to advance the health and wellbeing of human populations in the United States and around the world. The organization was founded with the objective of using research to support better decision-making in health policy. Tackling today’s greatest challenges—whether climate change, pandemics, or drug resistance—requires an approach that recognizes the interactions among the environment, animals, and humans.
The One Health Trust (OHT) employs interdisciplinary expertise to address issues related to infectious diseases, climate change, biodiversity protection, and the effect of changing human diets on the planet. OHT is the successor to the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy (CDDEP), which since 2010 has conducted actionable research on major global health challenges like antimicrobial resistance, malaria, pandemic response, vaccination coverage, and noncommunicable diseases.
Expanding on CDDEP’s innovative approaches, OHT’s experts—economists, epidemiologists, modelers, clinicians, and statisticians—conduct actionable, policy-oriented research to improve health and well-being worldwide. Our projects are global in scope, spanning Africa, Asia, and North America, and include scientific studies and policy engagement.
