The Question
What is the context for antibiotic resistance in India, how are antibiotics used, and what can be done to lessen the burden of bacterial resistance?
What we found
Avast and diverse country, India faces many challenges in managing antibiotics and controlling antibiotic resistance, but medical, legal, and administrative steps can be taken to confront the issues.
Why it matters
Antibiotic resistance is a global problem. Reducing the burden of bacterial infections in India will save lives in India as well as prevent the global transmission of resistant infections. India is also a case study for other middle-income countries.
