What we found
This chapter establishes key priorities for the control of infectious disease, injury and reproductive health problems, building on the results of the Disease Control Priorities Project, which estimated the cost-effectiveness of 315 interventions. The authors identify six particularly cost-effective interventions: tuberculosis treatment; initiatives to support and increase access to malaria treatment; childhood immunization; accelerated HIV vaccine development; essential surgery; and deworming schoolchildren. The authors’ conclusions can help to guide investment in health initiatives on both a national and international level.
