The Question
Increasing antibiotic consumption necessitates the development of a surveillance program for monitoring global resistance – what could such a program look like?
What we found
Many regional and global frameworks already exist, and with the addition of certain reference laboratories and other institutions to fill in missing gaps, a comprehensive and informative global network can be created. The existing frameworks and suggestions for linkage institutions are included.
Why it matters
Consolidating information and creating global systems of data can aid in determining specific needs of individual areas and combating global antibiotic resistance.
