Sehr Brar is a Research Manager at OHT, based in Chandigarh, India.

At OHT, Ms. Brar contributes to research that generates evidence to inform policy and strengthen health systems for effective antimicrobial resistance (AMR) prevention and containment. She also supports the development of strategic initiatives at Nimai Valley in Karnataka, India, contributing to its evolution as a hub for research, innovation, and capacity development.

Before joining OHT, Ms. Brar served as a national professional officer at the World Health Organization country office for India, where she provided technical leadership for national and state-level AMR initiatives, contributed to national AMR policies, and coordinated multisectoral partnerships under the One Health approach. Working closely with the National Centre for Disease Control, she supported the development and implementation of national policies on AMR and infection prevention and control, state action plans for AMR control, and AMR surveillance networks across Indian states and union territories. She also supported capacity development initiatives for national and state stakeholders, strengthening technical capacity for AMR awareness, surveillance, and containment.

Ms. Brar holds a master’s degree in Public Health from the Indian Institute of Public Health Hyderabad, Public Health Foundation of India, and a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from Punjab University. She has also completed professional training in health technology assessment, health economics, and infection prevention and control.

Her research interests include AMR, health economics, infectious diseases, and health systems research, with a focus on strengthening the evidence base for equitable and sustainable responses to AMR in low- and middle-income countries. Her published work spans health systems, primary healthcare, health technology assessment, and AMR, with publications in peer-reviewed journals including PLOS Medicine, PLOS ONE, the Indian Journal of Medical Research, and the Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care.
