Dr. Erik Bergland is a post-doctoral fellow based in Providence, Rhode Island.

At OHT, Dr. Bergland’s research involves using multi-scale models to examine disease dynamics and antimicrobial resistance, with a particular focus on fast-slow systems of ordinary differential equations. He aims to understand how disease progression in patients influences the selection of resistance at the population level.

Before joining OHT, he was a graduate researcher at Brown University.

Erik holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a doctorate in Applied Mathematics from Brown University. His research interests include antimicrobial resistance, epidemiology, and dynamical systems.
