OHT’s Dr. Oluoma Agiri co-authored a blog based on the Sabin Vaccine Institute webinar, “The Role of Immunization in Fighting Antimicrobial Resistance.” The piece highlights how vaccines remain an essential, yet underused tool in reducing the global AMR burden.

During the webinar, Dr. Agiri spoke on strategies to curb bacterial AMR in low- and middle-income countries through water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) access and infection prevention and control interventions, drawing on evidence from the 2024 Lancet Series on AMR.

She also discussed the Global Antibiotic Resistance Partnership (GARP)- Uganda’s vaccine advocacy, education in Nigeria, and the need for greater investment in prevention.
