In BMJ, Jean Kaseya, director general of Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, spoke in New York at the symposium organized by the One Health Trust, ahead of the UN high-level meeting on antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

“The head of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has warned that the spread of mpox is accelerating antimicrobial resistance in the continent. ‘Today, I consider mpox as the major driver of antimicrobial resistance,’ said the agency’s director general, Jean Kaseya.”
