The 1st Global Forum on Bacterial Infections concluded last week on 5 October 2011.  The forum outlined the state of the current challenge of increasing antibiotic access to the developing world while limiting an increase in drug resistance.  Immediate and multi-sectoral approaches at the global and domestic level were determined to be the course of action for combatting bacterial infections caused by antibiotic resistance. The New Delhi Call to Action on Preserving the Power of Antibiotics was signed by Hon. Prof Peter Anyang Nyong o, Minister for Medical Services, of the Republic of Kenya and Member of Parliament for the Kisumu Rural Constituency, Hon. Robert Joseph Mettle-Nunoo, Deputy Minister for Health, Ghana, and Hung Thai Cao, Vice Director of Medical Services Administration and a Senior Official in the Ministry of Health, Vietnam.
