Elloise du Toit

Dr. Elloise du Toit is an Affiliate Researcher at OHT and a microbiologist, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) specialist, and public health researcher based in South Africa.
Dr. du Toit’s work focuses on antimicrobial resistance surveillance, antimicrobial stewardship, microbiome research, diagnostics, vaccines, and strengthening health systems in low- and middle-income countries. She has worked across academia, government, non-governmental organizations, and international health partnerships, contributing to AMR policy development, laboratory capacity strengthening, evidence generation, and implementation research across Africa.
She has supported national and regional initiatives to improve AMR surveillance and control and has a particular interest in the intersection of vaccines and infectious diseases. She holds a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology and a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Cape Town. Her interests include translating scientific evidence into practical solutions that improve health outcomes and build stronger, more resilient health systems.
