Timothée Dieudonné Ouassa

Dr. Timothée Dieudonné Ouassa is an affiliate professor at OHT and a professor of Bacteriology and Virology in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Biological Sciences at Félix Houphouët-Boigny University in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, where he leads the Biological Sciences Laboratory.

As a pharmacist and clinical biologist, Dr. Ouassa serves at the Center for Diagnosis and Research on Health, where he oversees the Bacteriology and Mycobacteriology Units. He also chairs the Infection Prevention and Control Committee at Treichville University Hospital in Abidjan.

Dr. Ouassa is a member of the World Health Organization working group on the Bacterial Priority Pathogens List and the Observatory for Monitoring Antimicrobial Resistance in Côte d’Ivoire. He previously served as a consultant for West and Central Africa at the One Health Trust as part of the Mapping Antimicrobial Resistance and Antimicrobial Use Partnership, a project focused on collecting and analyzing data to better understand the burden of antimicrobial resistance across Africa.

His research focuses on the phenotypic and molecular characterization of mycobacteria; antimicrobial resistance; and the diagnosis and monitoring of viral infections, including viral hepatitis, HIV, and human papillomavirus, and sexually transmitted infections.
