Lavanya Suresh
Dr. Lavanya Suresh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, India.
Dr. Suresh is a political scientist by training, specializing in political ecology. Her research engages with natural resources such as air, surface water, and non-timber forest produce. Her broader scholarly interests include commons, decentralization, and public administration, with a focus on development, sustainability, and justice.
She received her PhD in Political Science from the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore.
Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the Justice E. S. Venkataramiah Memorial Prize in Development Administration for her PhD thesis, the Outstanding Potential for Excellence in Research and Academics award at BITS Pilani, and a visiting research scholar fellowship at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs, Brown University. She has also been invited as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Warwick.
