Ashish Giri

Ashish Giri is a Visiting Research Associate at the One Health Trust and a PhD candidate in Clinical Medicine at the University of Oxford, in the Nuffield Department of Medicine.
His research focuses on strengthening health system preparedness for climate-related challenges, particularly flooding, with an emphasis on how risks are generated and distributed across interconnected systems in the Himalayas, India. Ashish applies systems dynamics approaches to examine how risks emerge across sectors and to identify pathways for more equitable and resilient responses. He also contributes to a British Academy–funded interdisciplinary collaboration to develop a just transitions framework for antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Before his doctoral work, Ashish served as Research Manager for the Wellcome Trust–funded Global Health Solidarity Project in the Indian subcontinent. He has also worked with the Piramal Foundation, where he supported the design of the Tribal Health Collaborative, a multi-stakeholder initiative involving the Piramal Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID, and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. In addition to his research, he serves as a Teaching Assistant for the master’s in International Health and Tropical Medicine at the University of Oxford.
He holds a master’s degree with distinction in International Health and Tropical Medicine from the University of Oxford and a Master’s degree in Health Administration from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, India. His research interests lie at the intersection of AMR, climate change, and global health ethics.
